Logitech G9 Laser Gaming Mouse

We've been waiting a while for Logitech to come out with a gaming mouse that could rival their popular G5. We sure have found this in the Logitech G9!

One immediately notices the high dpi rating. For example inside the Microsoft Habu and the Logitech G5 is a 2000 dpi engine. 3200 is a noticable increase over the old "gaming standard". Movement of the mouse is reported to the computer via USB port 1000 times a second. There is no sleep mode built in to the G9 so you know that your game character will move when you tell it to move and not couple of milliseconds later. This will keep you safe in those times when you come back to your keyboard with a snack and an opponent is rounding the corner. The thing I love about Logitech's recent mice is the MicroGear Scroll wheel. In games, it is nice to have stepped rotation of the wheel so one can make precise selections during the battle. When surfing the web, I prefer the frictionless scrolling. It is great to see this scroll wheel included in the G9 too. The MicroGear button is used to toggle between the frictionless or stepped scrolling of the wheel while the profile button is used to toggle between profiles from inside the built-in memory of the G9.

Logitech provides two interchangeable grips with the G9 mouse. Wide Load Grip is intended to be used when user wants fuller shape and wider thumb rest. Precision grip is slimmer, thus making your grip from the mouse feel different and utilizes your fingers to move the mouse as opposed to your palm/wrist. The G9 comes with a spring loaded weight cartridge and can be ejected simply by pushing it gently towards the mouse and releasing. You can load up to 28 grams of extra weight inside.

Eventhough the G9 can operate without software and pre-installed drivers, these are needed when one wants to tweak the settings a bit. The software is totally rewritten from the previous Logitech SetPoint, that is now beefed-up to be used with amazing new Logitech G9. The software even allows you to choose what color will represent this profile on the mouse leds. This makes it easier to selected the wanted profile from the mouse's memory. The modernized Setpoint

also allows you to record and manage macros. Both the keyboard AND mouse events can be recorded to then be assigned to the desired mouse buttons.

Logitech has outdone themselves with this mouse. The price point is on the fair side I would say, you get some amazing features and just a more gamer friendly setup with this mouse because of the sheer flexibility and customization it provides. The grips and the portable profiles via the built-in memory makes the G9 the mouse of the future! Frag on!
